Westin plans Kerala debut

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc has announced the launch of The Westin Bekal Resort & Spa in Kerala.
The hotel owned by Green Gateway Leisure Limited, a company floated by the Air Travel Enterprise Group, will offer 165-rooms over 55 acres. The Bekal resort will be the first property under the Westin Hotels & Resorts brand in Kerala with a schedule to open in 2014.
“We are proud to partner with Green Gateway Leisure Limited for The Westin Bekal Resort & Spa in the beautiful destination of Kerala,” said Stephen Ho, President for Asia Pacific at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. “This signing marks an important milestone in our overall growth strategy to expand the Westin brand in India and strengthen Starwood’s resort portfolio in the region,” he added.
The resort will offer 6,000 sq. ft of meeting space and a large convention centre measurinsg approximately 50,000 sq ft. Other facilities at the resort include a fully equipped business centre, swimming pool and a mini three-hole golf course.
