Starwood’s Westin brand is rolling out the new version of its ‘Heavenly Bed’ at a hotel in Shanghai.
The Westin Bund Center Shanghai has already started installing the latest version of the bed in the hotel’s 570 rooms and suites, in an effort to improve guest comfort. And the hotel’s GM, Andreas Trauttmansdorff, said it is already making a positive impact.
“Our guests have noticed,” Trauttmansdorff said. “Since we started replacing our beds as early as October 2013 with the latest version, we have been receiving more and more positive feedback from our guests on how incredibly comfortable the bed is and how good their sleep was. All this without letting them know that we have replaced our hotel beds.”
The new bed includes a new top layer, individual pocketed coil springs and a replaceable top which is designed to extend the life of the mattress. The bed is also designed to conform to the guest’s shape, and offers edge support to prevent the sleeper slipping and rolling off the bed.
The Heavenly Bed is one of Westin’s core brand amenities, with 10 layers for extra comfort. Starwood also allows guests to purchase the bed, and has sold more than 30,000 beds and 100,000 pillows to-date.
