Work starts on Shanghai Metro southern extension

The southern extension of the Shanghai Metro’s Line 11, which will end in coastal Lingang New City, started construction this week. The Shanghai Daily reported that the 59km section will link Longyang Road station in the north of the Pudong New Area with the southern region. The line, which will have 11 stops, including Shanghai Wildlife Park, is scheduled to be completed in 2012.
