WORLDHOTELS plans to add 100 new hotels to its portfolio this year. The property collection, which celebrates its 40th birthday in 2010, has already welcomed 30 new hotels worldwide this year, 17 of which are based in EMEA. Meanwhile, the company has reported a buoyant start to 2010, with 30% growth in revenue and room nights compared to the same period the previous year. WORLDHOTELS Managing Director Robert Hornman told Travel Daily that the group had a strong global network which would grow and improve over the coming months. “We estimate to get another 60-80 hotels onboard this year.” He added that the company was keen to work with the travel trade, with the majority of business operated through a GDS system. “We’ve developed a strategy to work with mega agents,” he explained. “But this doesn’t necessarily work for smaller or midsized agents who may end up sharing the 10% commission profits between lots of small companies. We launched Go 15, whereby we pay 15% commission to smaller agents if they comply with the arrangements of the scheme.”
Some of WORLDHOTELS latest properties include, the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London; The Manhattan Hotel Rotterdam in New York; the Golf Hotel Punta Ala in Italy and the Expo Congress Hotel in Budapest.
