Sendai, Japan, will receive a welcome boost to its tourism industry after the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) confirmed that a substantial part of the 12th WTTC Global Summit will be held there. The entire event was due to be held in Tokyo, however the WTTC and the Host Committee got together to discuss how to aid the recovery shortly after the tsunami hit. The WTTC Annual General Meeting and Executive Committee meeting will be held in Sendai on 17April together with an additional congress in Sendai, which will focus specifically on the recovery of Japan’s tourism industry, risk management, and crisis response. It is expected that some 400 delegates will attend the Sendai event. The Global summit 17-19 April will still be held in the capital.
