Xiamen Airlines has started flying its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan province.

The new service commenced today (10 February 2015) and will operate daily, direct from Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, in southeast China.

The new twin-aisle aircraft comes equipped with 237 seats in a three-cabin layout, with four seats in first class, 18 in business class and 215 in economy. The Fuzhou-Chengdu route was previously operated using a single-aisle B737-800 aircraft.

Xiamen Airlines welcomed its first B787-8 Dreamliners last year and initially deployed them both on routes to Beijing, from its twin Fujian hubs of Xiamen and Fuzhou.

The carrier, which is a member of the SkyTeam alliance, will take delivery of another four B787s this year, and will use them to launch its first ever long-haul flights to Amsterdam.
