Ripley to launch World Record attractions in Asia
US-based attraction company Ripley Entertainment is planning to launch its Guinness World Records attractions in Asia.
The concept was unveiled in Hong Kong today at the Asian Attractions Expo. Ripley said it is now seeking franchise and development partners with which to roll-out the new attractions across the region. The interactive attractions are intended to allow visitors to attempt their own world records.
“Guinness World Records Attractions is an exciting new development that is sure to appeal to families across Asia,” said Jim Pattison Jr, President of Ripley Entertainment. “We are delighted to be working with the Guinness World Records team to provide a very interactive, high-tech attraction where individuals and families can break world records in a variety of unique and fun ways.”
Alistair Richards, Managing Director of Guinness World Records added; “Our new attractions concept is unique, family-friendly and very exciting. We are quite pleased with our working relationship with Ripley Entertainment and very proud of what has been achieved in the design of this revolutionary new attractions model.”
While no destinations for the new Guinness World Record attractions have yet been confirmed, Pattison revealed that he was looking for sites of around 2,000m² in size, located in “high visibility areas with substantial tourist traffic”.
Ripley Entertainment also owns and operates the ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not!’ attractions, which already has an Asian presence in the Thai resort town of Pattaya.
Attending the Hong Kong launch was Sultan Kosen, the world’s tallest man, who stands more than 251cm tall.
