By Amanda Greenwood, 4 January 2013, Friday 4:22 PM
More Brits have booked a last-minute holiday and are headed overseas this January to escape the ‘miserable’ UK, easyJet Holidays has said.
The company’s website is said to have seen a record number of bookings in December with 60% more booking a holiday in that time for December or January, compared to last year.
Bookings over the holiday period were up 87% with Boxing Day sales increased by 164%.
Egypt, the Algarve, Amsterdam and Rome have all been noted as popular destinations.
“The boom also seems set to continue into the New Year, with bookings (overall) continuing to showing daily increases of 40% on January last year,” added its general manager Mandy Round.
