VietJet receives new A320
VietJet Air has added another Airbus A320 aircraft to its fleet, ready for the launch of its first international services connecting Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and Bangkok.
The Vietnamese low-cost carrier now operates a fleet of six A320s and flies to nine destinations in Vietnam. Services to Bangkok are expected to commence on 10 February 2013, but prior to that, the new aircraft will enable VietJet to increase domestic frequencies during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The new 180-seat, single-class A320 landed at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport last week and features Vietnam’s official tourism logo and slogan.
“We are proud to fly the flag for tourism in Vietnam and promote this country as a destination for travellers and businesspeople all over the world,” said Desmond Lin, VietJet’s Business Development Director. “It’s an honour for us to use the national colours and tourism slogan as part of our design.”
VietJet plans to increase its fleet size to 15 aircraft by 2015, with up to five new aircraft arriving this year alone. The airline also plans to launch flights connecting HCMC and Hanoi to other Southeast and Northeast Asian countries before the end of 2013.
