A new port in Chapora-Bardez could provide a major boost to tourism in the North of India if plans are approved by authorities. The government has approved, in principal, the plan which will see the development of a small port in the region which will act as a cargo terminal and a berthing platform for cruise liners. Close to the internationally popular destination of Goa, the project has the necessary ingredients for success and would be an undoubted boon for Karnataka’s travel industry. According to TOI, the port has received initial approval, but a feasibility study must first satisfy government official before construction can begin.
