Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will return to Dubai this summer, with the launch of a new direct service to and from Kuala Lumpur.
The airline cut its Dubai flights as part of a major cost-cutting plan in early 2012, but will return to the UAE hub on 5 August 2013 with a new daily service. Flights will be operated using a 307-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft, departing Kuala Lumpur at 2330 and arriving at Dubai at 0220 the next morning. The return flight will depart Dubai at 0410, getting back into KL at 1525.
“Dubai was one of the routes that were suspended in our route rationalisation exercise in January 2012. We continuously monitor market demand, and are happy to be able to add back Dubai into Malaysia Airlines network to extend our reach and strengthen our offering to customers,” said MAS’ group CEO, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya.
MAS has been steadily re-growing its capacity in the past year, adding Airbus A380 flights to London, Paris and Hong Kong, and launching a brand new service to Kathmandu.
