Delta Air Lines has completed the installation of full flat-bed seats in the business class cabins of its entire fleet of international long-haul aircraft.
The roll-out has included all of Delta’s Airbus A330s, Boeing 767s, B747s and B777s operating on international routes, and represents the carrier’s largest interior fleet upgrade in more than a decade.
Delta now becomes the only US carrier to offer flat-bed seats with direct aisle access on all international long-haul flights, plus on-demand in-flight entertainment in every seat. It is also in the process of rolling out in-flight Wi-Fi across its entire fleet.
“We’re investing in giving our customers the wide range of options they want on long flights – from being fully connected via in-flight Wi-Fi to being fully disconnected and enjoying a great movie or comfortable sleep,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s senior vice president of marketing.
“Delta has set a new standard for our customers by adding full flat-bed seats with direct-aisle access, improved meals and amenities, and quality in-flight entertainment options.”
And from 1 July 2014, Delta also will start operating three upgraded B757 aircraft with full flat-bed seats on the route between New York JFK Airport and Los Angeles. The products will then be rolled out to all transcontinental flights between New York-JFK and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle by summer 2015.
