Passengers at UK airports could face longer waits at border control over the next two days as some Border Force officers go on strike.
easyJet warned that shift patterns mean disruption could start tonight from 18.00 and run until Friday 11 July 1200.
The Border Force officers are striking as part of action from the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) against having pay capped or frozen.
Around 74% of PCS members, which include workers across several public sectors, have voted in strike action as part of the campaign.
PCS said the recent Passport Office backlog ‘showed what happened when jobs are cut’.
PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “Ministers praise public servants for their hard work and dedication but at the same time they are slashing their living standards. Instead of warm words, public sector workers need a pay rise.
“As politicians of all parties justify pay cuts by repeating the lie that there’s no money around, and household incomes fall to their lowest for more than a decade, it is clear the so called economic recovery is not being felt by everyone.”
