Cunard has cancelled two sailings on Queen Victoria so the ship can go through a refit.
A 12-night Canaries cruise departing 3 January and five-night cruise from Amsterdam on 15 January have been cancelled for the Hamburg drydock period.
Passengers affected can rebook with a GBP100 per person cruise credit, or a refund will be offered to those that cannot rebook.
The drydock period has been brought forward from December 2015 so a bearing on one of the ship’s propulsion units can be replaced.
The ship will enter the Blohm & Voss Shipyard in Hamburg in January so it will be ready for the ship’s Round World Cruise departing 20 January.
Refurbishments will include a remodelling of the casino to fit nine new single staterooms, while more shade will be available near the Lido pool and Grills Upper Terrace area.
New carpets and televisions will be installed in rooms, with new shops to be added.
Scrubber technology will also be installed on Queen Victoria to minimise its impact, having been placed on Queen Elizabeth in another recent drydock stage.
Cunard director Angus Struthers said: “While we are sorry to be cancelling the two cruises, we are looking forward to welcoming all those affected back aboard a Cunard ship in the near future, perhaps on Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth, both of which will be sailing in 2015 fresh from their make-overs.”
