Thomas Cook Group has announced a partnership to speed up the transaction process on its online platforms.
The company will integrate the Zapp initiative next summer that allows customers to use their bank account and mobile device to book.
The group hopes the new system will mean more conversions online and through mobiles, where speed is important.
Zapp has already been backed by several banks including HSBC, first direct, Nationwide, Santander and Metro Bank.
“The key is to make this process as seamless and secure as possible. As the first travel company in the UK to partner with Zapp, this agreement is another in a long line of innovations our company has undertaken to keep the travel booking process at the cutting edge of technology and is therefore very much in line with our high-tech, high-touch omni-channel strategy,” said group CEO Harriet Green.
She added: “We know that customers want to make bookings and payments online and through their mobile devices as part of the changing landscape of how they book their holiday – annual web booked revenues now represent approximately GBP3 billion; mobile and tablet bookings almost GBP0.5 billion.”
