Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia will launch the first South Pacific Cruise Forum in Tahiti this October.
Operated by the CLIA’s partner, South Pacific Cruise Alliance, the event will bring together tourism ministers, destination managers, ports and airport authorities, along with cruise shipping companies, airlines, tour operators and suppliers from across the region on 16-17 October 2015.
Through a series of meetings, discussions and conferences, the forum will aim to highlight the development of the cruise sector in the South Pacific and promote the region to cruise lines.
“The South Pacific region has always been a hot spot for Australian and New Zealand cruisers but there is still so much potential for growth,” said CLIA Australasia’s general manager, Brett Jardine.
“Cruise lines are continuing to open up new ports in the region and offering new itineraries that take cruisers to some of the world’s most picturesque islands.”
The South Pacific is expected to welcome approximately 480,000 passengers on more than 450 cruises in 2015, with 50 different cruise ships making more than 2,600 port calls in the region.
