Japan Airlines has commenced direct flights between Tokyo Narita Airport and Dallas, using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Initially the trans-Pacific route will be operated four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), but JAL plans to increase to daily service on 20 March 2016. The launch marks the first time JAL has flown to Dallas since 2001.
“We’re excited to welcome Japan Airlines back to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) with their Dreamliner service to Tokyo,” said DFW Airport’s CEO, Sean Donohue. “We know that DFW will be a convenient mid-continent gateway for travellers from Japan to the United States and Latin America.”
JAL’s chairman, Masaru Onishi, was in Dallas to flag off the inaugural flight to Tokyo.
“The Dallas/Fort Worth region is a strategic addition to Japan Airlines’ growing network of global destinations,” Onishi said. “With DFW Airport’s central location, abundant connecting routes and exceptional amenities, we believe that more convenience and travel options can be offered to our customers travelling to and from Japan and beyond.”
The new service will complement American Airlines’ existing two daily flights between Dallas and Narita, which are operated in partnership with JAL.
