Tianjin Airlines has taken delivery of its first two Embraer E195 aircraft.
The airline becomes the first in China to operate this aircraft type, and the deliveries form part of a major order for 20 E195s and 20 E190 E2 jets which was placed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s 2014 visit to Brazil.
The new aircraft are expected to be deployed on Tianjin Airlines’ domestic routes in China.
“China’s regional aviation industry has just taken off and will be the most robust in the world in the next decade,” said Paulo Cesar Silva, president & CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Embraer is glad to engage in this transformation and improve connectivity with our regional aircraft. We also hope the incoming E195 aircraft will help optimise our customer’s fleet structure and create more value for Tianjin Airlines.”
Tianjin Airlines is Embraer’s largest customer in China and operates the country’s largest fleet of E190s (45 aircraft) in China.
Du Xiaoping, president of Tianjin Airlines, said the new E195s would play a strategic role to the company’s development. “We are very satisfied with the current E190 fleet we are operating and we believe the new E195 fleet, with more seats and equally excellent operational economics, will allow us to meet the surging demands of air travel in China and help achieve our development goals.”
Embraer has now taken 224 orders from airlines in China, 130 of which have been delivered.
