A new high-end dhow cruise experience has been introduced in Dubai.
The purpose-built Al Wasl Dhow, based in Dubai Marina, offers high-end evening cruises.
It is owned by prominent excursion provider Ishrat Ali Khan, who also owns Al Wasl Yachts, Asia Pacific Travel and Tourism, and Oasis Palm Tourism.
Talking to The Gulf Today, Khan said the dhow was unique in that it was built from scratch.
“Usually the existing fleets of dhows in Dubai are either once used as fishing boats or cargo ships and after they spend their prime at sea, they are altered as floating restaurants and cruise, floating on break waters,” he said.
“This new Al Wasl Dhow has been built from bottom to top with the needs of the cruise and provide tourists and locals a unique experience of dining in the sea.”
The dhow was launched during last week’s Eid holiday and proved popular with visiting tourists.
During the inaugural trip, management arranged a sumptuous dinner with a wide range of Pakistani traditional cuisine including biryani, qurma, live barbecue and such other mouthwatering dishes.
“We are excited to have a dhow which was made in Pakistan cruising along Dubai Marina, giving pleasure to dhow-cruise lovers,” said Khan.
Al Wasl Dhow has the capacity of more than 200 people and is ideal for wedding parties, family gatherings and business events, he explained. It operates daily.
