Ritz-Carlton has signed a management agreement for its first property in New Zealand.
Scheduled to open in 2019, the new Ritz-Carlton Auckland will be positioned in the centre of New Zealand’s largest city, adjacent to the Sky City development. It will offer 360-degree views of Auckland’s twin harbours.
“We have long desired to bring the Ritz-Carlton to New Zealand and we’ve patiently waited for the right partner and opportunity that will create a showcase worthy of this world-class city,” said Hervé Humler, Ritz-Carlton’s president & chief operating officer. “We’re delighted to be partnering with NDG Asia Pacific… to open the first Ritz-Carlton in the land of the long white cloud.”
The new luxury hotel will feature 300 rooms and suites, along with “lofty terraces” and a street-level café. There will also be two fine-dining restaurants and two ballrooms.
Ritz-Carlton does not currently have a presence in Oceania, but the brand has already announced plans to open hotels in Sydney and Perth in the coming years.
