Vietnam Airlines has celebrated the delivery of its 10th Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The new long-haul jet touched down in Hanoi last week and will initially be deployed on the airline’s London Heathrow route.
“Vietnam Airlines is proud to welcome our 10th Boeing 787 Dreamliner… only 16 months after we took delivery of the first of these state-of-the-art new aircraft,” said Phan Xuan Duc, the national carrier’s executive vice president. “The 787 is one of the keys to our fleet expansion plans.”
The airline took delivery of its first Dreamliner in July 2015 and has nine more on order. It already flies the aircraft to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Tokyo Narita and Beijing, as well as on the key domestic route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City route. In 2017, the B787s will also be introduced on routes to Sydney and Melbourne.
Vietnam Airlines is in the process of revamping its long-haul fleet. In addition to one more B787-9 Dreamliner, the airline has outstanding orders for eight larger B787-10s and 24 Airbus A350s, five of which have been delivered.
