Star Cruises has revealed plans to homeport one of its ships in three Southeast Asian ports from next month.

From 3 September 2017 onwards, SuperStar Libra will be based at Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Phuket, operating a series of regional cruises. The ship will operate twice a week between these three ports, with a three-night voyage from KL’s Port Klang to Phuket and Penang, and a four-night option that also includes a stop in Langkawi.

“We are extremely delighted with SuperStar Libra’s new deployment in Kuala Lumpur, together with Penang and Phuket,” said Ang Moo Lim, president of Star Cruises. “Star Cruises is optimistic this will grow our source markets in Southeast Asia, allowing guests more access to multiple homeports and concurrently developing and stimulating the growth of the cruise tourism sector across borders through fly-cruise options.”

Star Cruises has a long history in Malaysia and Thailand, having cruised in the region for more than 24 years. Penang was previously the only homeport for SuperStar Libra in Malaysia, but expanding airlift in Phuket and KL is now opening up the opportunity of fly-cruise holidays from these ports.

The 10-deck, 42,285-tonne SuperStar Libra has a capacity of 1,480 passengers and features duty-free shops, restaurants, bars, spas and swimming pools.
