Asian hotel pipelines slowing as economic crisis bites

With many Asian economies seeing sizable economic slowdown, or even contraction, the region’s hotel construction pipeline is likewise deteriorating. According to the latest Asia Pacific Pipeline Summary from Lodging Econometrics (LE), the total number of hotels under construction in the region was down 15% at the end of Q4 2008 (from its cyclical peak of Q2 2008) to 1,891 projects comprising a total 437,374 rooms.
