The Golden Tulip Hotel Group has announced that it plans to develop more than 100 new hotels across Asia over the next five years. By the end of 2011, five new properties will have opened in Southeast Asia, in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin. A further eight will be under development. In India there are currently seven hotels operational in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhilai, Ranchi, Mandawa and Amritsar, and by the end of 2011 another 20 hotels will be added. For China the company currently has three hotels operational and plans to add a further 25 hotels by end of following year.
Golden Tulip operates a selection of brands, including the economy Tulip Inn and the four-star Golden Tulip Hotels, which both concentrate on business-focused city centre properties. The high-end Golden Tulip Resorts are targeted more towards leisure travellers.
In the company’s pipeline are new Tulip Inns in Pattaya, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Phnom Penh and Sumatra, while Golden Tulip properties are planned for Bali, Bangkok and Hua Hin. In addition, 30 Golden Tulip Resorts are planned in locations across Southeast Asia.
Under Louvre Hotels, the group will also expand in Indonesia will the roll-out of 25 Premiere Classe budget hotels from 2012, mainly located in secondary cities across the country.
Mark van Ogtrop, Managing Director for Golden Tulip in Southeast Asia, commented; “We forecast growth and an increase in the number of visitors to Thailand and the region. This growth will primarily originate from within Asia. There is also a shift in the demand towards mid-tier and budget accommodation with travellers looking for more value for money, an area where there are not yet that many international brands.”
The company has already launched the Golden Tulip Mangosteen Resort and Spa in Phuket, and the Golden Tulip Sovereign in Bangkok, while the Golden Tulip Mandison Suites will open in May 2011. The combined Louvre Group currently has regional offices in Delhi, Shanghai and Bangkok.
