Hong Kong, 31 March 2010 - Travelport, one of the world’s leading global distribution system (GDS) providers, has enhanced its eCommerce portfolio of products and grown its roster of leading online travel agent (OTA) clients in the Asia Pacific region.
Mumbai-based Cleartrip is the latest OTA to sign a multi-year agreement selecting Travelport’s Galileo platform as its preferred GDS. Cleartrip selected the Galileo Web Services 2.0 solution, part of a suite of professional services that are easy to use and cost effective.
“With Galileo Web Services, we were able to easily integrate Galileo’s travel content with Cleartrip’s own proprietary systems. There was no need for investment in additional software as access is via the Internet,” said Tarique Khatri, Vice President, Business Development, Cleartrip.
Travelport’s Cleartrip OTA win follows South Korea’s online powerhouse, Interpark, which cut over to Galileo in September 2009 and was the company’s largest customer win in South Korea last year.
“Galileo Web Services was not only deployed in Korean language but was also supported by technical help documentation, code samples, test pages and toolkits to expedite the development process. We also had a Galileo expert team to help us integrate and deploy Galileo travel content to our customers in South Korea,” Mr Dong Hyun Cho, General Manager IT Support Division of Interpark Tour Corporation.
These important OTA customers join Australia’s award winning Webjet, whose proprietary technology platform has used Travelport’s Galileo since it launched in 2001. Like most successful OTAs, Webjet’s gross transaction volumes bucked the travel trend last year and increased 37% in the six months to December 31, 2009, while profits increased 40% over the same six month period
