Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is planning to boost tourism arrivals with a new campaign that will highlight “100 interesting things” about the city, Thanh Nien News reported. The campaign was launched on Friday by the Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, La Quoc Khanh, who was reported saying that arrivals to HCMC had fallen short of arrivals targets last year, but that with the new initiative, the city hopes to welcome about 3 million international visitors in 2009, earning and revenues of VND34 trillion (US$1.9 billion) – a 10% year-on-year increase.
While specific details of what exactly these 100 things would be, Khanh revealed that the campaign would offer discounted rates across the city.
