Passengers aboard a Philippine ferry service have been rescued in the Central Philippines. The coast guard and fishermen saved 168 people from the M/V Asia Malaysia when it sank in bad weather during the early hours of Sunday morning. The ship was on an overnight trip from Cebu to Iloilo province when it got into trouble 6km from its destination. The vessel tilted to one side for three hours before going under, but reasons for the incident are still unknown. The ship had a capacity of 550 people but it is unclear how many people were actually aboard. According to AP, a coast guard helicopter was scouring the area for other possible survivors and to check whether there was an oil slick from the ship.
