ANA’s pilots are planning to hold a 24-hour strike tomorrow (Saturday 1 October 2011). The Japanese airline said it is continuing to negotiate with unions in an effort to avert industrial action, but an accord is yet to be reached.
Should the strike go ahead, ANA said it would “do everything possible to minimise the impact on passengers”. The strike will only hit domestic flights, and all international flights will remain unaffected.
“We are very disappointed that our four pilots unions have threatened to take strike action. This action is unnecessary and will prove disruptive,” an ANA spokesperson said.
The pilots’ union is demanding improvements pay and conditions.
