kenya sees rise in UK arrivals

The Kenya Tourism Board has witnessed a 5% increase in the number of British arrivals between January and June this year compared to 2009. More than 72,000 UK tourists visited the country in this period, which Kenyan Tourism Board Regional Director Angie Sloan attributes to diversity. “Kenya’s range and large volume of wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and Indian Ocean coastline are the secrets to its success,” she told Travel Daily. “It offers safari and coast combinations which are very popular with the UK market as many want to relax on the beach as well as experience a safari.” Popular as a mid-haul destination, Kenya has also seen an increase in the number luxury and eco holidays which are rapidly becoming popular with British tourists. “As Kenya is a mid-haul destination, visitors will not suffer from jet lag which is ideal for families and those on shorter breaks.
