Unite is taking British Airways to court in an on-going dispute over the removal of travel perks. A date has not been set for the hearing but Unite said it is expected before the end of the week. “We are being forced to defend our members and their rights to just treatment in the court room because BA refuses to play fairly at the negotiating table,” said a Unite spokesperson. In addition, Unite will take the airline to the Court of Appeal over claims that staff reduction was a breach of contract. The High Court threw out the dispute and favoured BA in the case earlier this year. “The ruling found that the modest changes to onboard cabin crew numbers on flights from Heathrow were reasonable, did not breach crew contracts and could therefore remain in place,” said BA. “We will defend our position vigorously.” Unite will also go to the European court of Human Rights at the end of this month over UK balloting laws.
