Freedom of the Seas returns to service this week after receiving new features over a drydock period. The Royal Caribbean ship has been kept at the Grand Bahama Shipyard for a week, where it was fitted out with the restaurants, entertainment and technology available on Oasis-class ships. The new features have been added as part of RCI’s Royal Advantage programme, while will invest US$70 million in new ship features. “The outdoor video screen installed aboard Liberty of the Seas in January has already been so well received that we have decided to deploy it aboard all the ships scheduled to undergo the Royal Advantage revitalisation in 2011,” said Lisa Bauer, senior vice president of hotel operations at RCI. New features include the DreamWorks Experience, 3D move screens, outdoor LED video walls, the Cupcake Cupboard, Vintages, Imaginocean! puppet show, Royal babies and tots nursery and the digital Wayfinding system. Liberty and Freedom have already been upgraded, while Radiance of the Seas will be changed in May and Splendour of the Seas in October.
