India has been appointed chair of United Nations body that promotes tourism in South Asia at the WTO’s annual meet in South Korea. Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai will hold the chair of the UN South Asian Regional Commission for tourism at its future meetings.
“It has been estimated that by 2016-17, the growth in the sector would enable additional employment generation of around 25 million persons. We are therefore giving a boost to the skill development in the sector,” Kant was quoted saying by the Indian Express.
