The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed authorities at Delhi airport to give priority to diverted flights during fog season. The DGCA reviewed the preparedness of all airlines, Delhi airport operator DIAL and other agencies to meet exigencies and ensure that passengers are minimally inconvenienced. “We have directed them to stop all construction work near the operational area at Delhi airport. Also, airlines have been asked to ensure that an adequate number of CAT-III trained pilots are available to operate flights to/from Delhi during fog,” a DGCA officer said.
DGCA has asked airlines to depute their airport representative during fog period for passenger facilitation. Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is expecting dense fog between 20 December and 20 February during which there would be an estimated 110 fog hours, stated the Hindustan Times.
