Hilton has announced plans to recruit 1,500 staff in the UK. The move is part of a major recruitment drive that will see it add 8,500 new employees across Europe, as the company adds more than 110 hotels to its regional portfolio.
In the UK, Hilton is expecting to open more than 20 new properties, while a further 10 properties will be converted to the Hilton brand, safeguarding a further 1,900 jobs. Hotels currently recruiting staff include the Hilton St George’s Park and the Hampton by Hilton St George’s Park, both of which will open in Burton upon Trent in summer 2012. In addition, the Doubletree by Hilton Lincoln will open its doors by the end of this year, and the Hampton by Hilton Croydon is opening in the next few months.
Openings at the new properties will span a range of positions from entry-level through to senior management, including concierges, chefs, sales and marketing executives, event coordinators, personal trainers and hotel managers.
In addition to the UK jobs, Hilton expects to add around 3,000 positions in Russia, 800 jobs in Turkey, more than 400 new positions in Germany and approximately 750 positions in Poland.
Simon Vincent, Hilton’s area president for Europe said; “While unemployment figures in Europe continue to rise, Hilton Worldwide is experiencing an exciting period of growth which will see us continue to offer a wealth of rewarding career options. As owners and developers continue to affiliate with our world-class brands, attracting, retaining and developing the best people is paramount. We strive to be industry-leaders in this regard and we are working hard to make sure this excellence continues as we grow.”
More than 30,000 people are currently employed at more than 215 Hilton properties and corporate offices in Europe.
