Travelodge opened its first hotel with Topshop as it revealed plans for more hotels in Scotland.
The hotel chain has teamed up with Topshop owners Arcadia Group to open the Edinburgh hotel, which is its 13th in the city but first under the new agreement. The 96-room hotel is above the Princes Street store across four floors as part of a £10m investment.
In addition, the hotel company opened another 85-room hotel in a grade II listed property on Queens Street. Paul Harvey, managing director at Travelodge said Scotland is a key area of growth for the brand. It will open a hotel in Fort William later this year and has signed a contract for another in Glasgow.
“With over 16 million people annually visiting Scotland, the need for good quality low cost accommodation is in great demand and our objective now is to grow our properties in other key areas across Scotland,” he explained. “Since 2008, we have invested £64 million into Edinburgh and today we have 13 great hotels across the city”.
