Monarch Airlines has cemented its presence in Leeds with new flights and a partnership with a football club.
The airline’s first departure from Leeds Bradford took off today (14 Dec) to Munich at the airport’s new terminal.
Flights from the airport to Grenoble will start tomorrow, ahead of 12 new routes in summer to destinations including Turkey, Italy, Cyprus, Palma and Portugal.
“We are delighted to be celebrating the departure of our first scheduled flights from Leeds Bradford in conjunction with the official opening of the new terminal at the airport. We are looking forward to establishing Leeds Bradford as our sixth UK base when we start our summer scheduled operation in March,” said Kevin George, managing director of Monarch.
The carrier further established is name in the city by sponsoring Leeds United’s North Stand and becoming a commercial partner to the football club.
The airline will be marketed throughout the Elland Road ground including adverts visible from the M621 motorway.
