Korean Air flies to Sri Lanka, Maldives
Korean Air has launched flights to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
The new service commenced on Saturday 9 March 2013 and will now operate three times a week. Services will operate from Seoul’s Incheon airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, flying direct to Colombo, and then on to Male, the capital of the Maldives. On the return leg, flights depart Male on the same days, returning to Seoul via Colombo.
The new flights will be operated using a 276-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft, including six of Korean Air’s flatbed ‘Sleeper Seats’ in first class.
“It is a great pleasure for me to announce that Korean Air has restarted its service to Sri Lanka and has also extended the route so that it now flies to the Maldives. I hope that Korean Air’s new service to Colombo and Male will pave the way for an increased exchange in passenger traffic between the nations and create economic benefits between Korea and countries in the Indian Ocean, including with Sri Lanka and the Maldives,” said Chang Hoon Chi, Korean Air’s President & Chief Operating Officer.
Korean Air added that the new service would serve to “enhance the relationship between Korea and countries in the Indian Ocean, and help improve Korea’s ties to the region”.
