Dreamliner to fly on 31 May – report
United Airlines will resume flights using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner on 31 May, a US media report has stated.
The Chicago Tribune cited a United spokesperson as saying that the airline’s Dreamliners will take to the skies for the first time in more than four months on the Denver-Houston route. The first international Dreamliner flight is expected to be made on 10 June, on the Denver-Tokyo Narita route.
All B787s have been grounded since 17 January 2013 due to problems with the aircraft’s lithium-ion batteries.Boeing announced on Friday however, that all tests on the new battery unit had been completed and that it would submit its findings to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA has still not given clearance for the Dreamliner to resume commercial operations.
Air India announced it will resume its Dreamliner flights next month.
