75% of BA customers will fly through strike

British Airways has said that more than 75% of its customers will travel over the weekend, despite Unite’s four-day strike.Around 240,000 people have booked to travel during the strike period and the airline expects to fly more than 180,000.A further 18% have been rebooked to other carrier or changed their BA dates, several opting for a flight out today.BA is feeling optimistic after 60% of its staff reported for work during the strikes last week. “I feel really sorry for those customers whose plans have been ruined by Unite’s completely unjustified action. Despite the union’s promises, this strike has affected the Easter holiday plans of thousands of hard-working people,” said BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh.BA will fly a full normal schedule from Gatwick and London City airports and 70% of long-haul flights and 55% of short-haul programmes from Heathrow
