American Airlines and Kingfisher Airlines yesterday announced that they will enter into a codeshare and frequent flyer partnership in 2011. The initial phase will see American place its ‘AA’ code on Kingfisher’s domestic flights from New Delhi. The US carrier will also codeshare on the Indian airline’s flights from London to both New Delhi and Mumbai. Kingfisher meanwhile, will place its ‘IT’ code on American’s daily direct service between New Delhi and Chicago, as well as some of American’s trans-Atlantic flights to London. The two airlines are also considering expanding their frequent flyer agreement. Kingfisher and American are set to become partners in the oneworld alliance, when the Indian carrier attains full membership in 2011.
