Bombardier has put back the launch of its new CSeries aircraft until July.
The Canadian planemaker had expected the new regional jet’s maiden flight to take place by the end of this month, but the company said that it would push back the launch “to allow for additional software upgrades”.
Despite the delay, Bombardier’s commercial president, Mike Arcamone, said he was happy with the progress of the project.
“Only five years after launching the CSeries airliner, we’re approaching our maiden flight – a historic moment for Bombardier and a game-changing moment for the industry,” said Arcamone. “The success of the CSeries aircraft programme so far is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our partners, suppliers and in-house teams.”
The CSeries will be Bombardier’s biggest ever commercial aircraft, with two versions designed to cater for the 100- to 149-seat market.
Bombardier has so far taken orders for 177 CSeries aircraft – 63 CS100s and 114 larger CS300s. Customers include Korean Air, SWISS and Gulf Air.
