ATOAI convention to sign global sustainability pledge

India will take a step forward towards enhancing its tourism sustainability when the delegates at the 9th Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) sign a global sustainability criteria pledge. The convention will be held in Srinagar from 12-14 September. This will be one of the many significant achievements expected from the convention, where 400 Indian and foreign buyers and sellers are to gather. ATOAI leaders said in Delhi on Tuesday that a highlight of the meet will be big participation by local travel industry leaders and presence of central and state tourism officials and ministers, including SK Sahai, and Omar Abdullah.
The convention will see NN Vohra, State Governer and a former chief of the Indian Mountainerring Association, deliver the valedictory address. Garry Weare will give a keynote address on India adventure tourism. Meanwhile, ATOAI has extended the last date for award voting to 31 August. Sujit Banerjee, WTTC India Secretary General and former government Tourism Secretary, heads the judging panel.
