Holiday firm Leger Holidays is launching tours to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and other landmark dates that will pass in 2014, it has announced.
The company, which is also publishing a brochure, will include tours on ‘First Shots of the Battle of Mons 100th Anniversary Tour’, the ‘Armistice Centenary in Flanders Tour’, a ‘D-Day 70th Anniversary Cruise’ and the ‘Arnhem 70th Anniversary tour’. There will also be a tour to Germany to celebrate the fall of the Berlin wall, which took place 25 years ago next year.
Huw Williams, marketing director at Leger Holidays, said: “2014 is obviously a hugely important year in terms of the 100th anniversary of the start of The Great War. It’s also a significant year in relation to the Second World War, marking the 70thanniversary of the famous D-Day landings and Operation Market Garden at Arnhem. Battlefield tours offer our customers the chance to visit, understand and never forget the sacrifices made. We’ve already experienced an increase in sales for 2014 battlefield tours, proving the appetite is there from people across the UK wishing to go and pay their respects, or trace a story that is personal to them. A battlefield tour offers a unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of heroes, and never will that be more poignant than during 2014.”
All tours are available to book through the trade.
