Philippine Airlines (PAL) has launched a new charter service between Manila and the Russian city of Vladivostok.
The new route, which launched on Sunday (27 October 2013), will be operated in partnership with Russian tour company, Primorsky Agency of Aviation Companies TM Biletur, and is aimed at boosting Russian tourist arrivals to the Philippines.
“We recognise the growing demand from Russian tourists for a direct air link to the Philippines. Through this service, we hope to be able to serve this market and more importantly, help our government’s efforts to boost tourism,” said PAL’s president, Ramon Ang.
According to the Philippines’ Tourism Department, 21,736 Russians visited the country in the first eight months of 2013 – 32.5% more than the same period last year.
The new charter will allow Russian tourists to stay 11 days in the Philippines, with the return service to Vladivostok departing on 7 November 2013. PAL said charter flights between the two cities “will be scheduled throughout the year”.
