SITA, the aviation IT solutions provider, is holding dialogues with airlines and other agencies concerned for implementation of a Passenger Web check-in application that allows flyers to check-in via electronic boarding passes sent directly to mobile phones.
“We are in talks with airlines and airports for implementation of our host of mobile technologies, including PassengerWeb check-in application,” the Economic Times reported SITA’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Relationship Management, Peter Cunnighan as saying.
The PassengerWeb check-in application allows passengers to download their boarding passes to their mobile phones by visiting a secure link that is emailed to them after booking a flight.
“The combination of mobile devices and advanced communication technology will increase the productivity of both airline and airport staff, enabling them to do their work more quickly and efficiently,” Cunningham added. The mobile boarding pass system is already implemented by international airlines like American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and British Airways.
