Air India Express will change its flight schedules from February 2012 due to DGCA’s new rules and restrictions on pilots’ duty time for flights operated after midnight. Most Air India Express departures to the Gulf are in the late evening and night. The DGCA’s rule on flight duty time limitations for cockpit crew will come into effect from February.
“Currently our (Gulf) flights depart from India at 7-9am and land in local destination before midnight. On their return, they land in India in early morning. As a result, passengers in both India and the Gulf get a complete day for themselves before the flight. We will be advancing the departures of our flights from India by two to three hours, so that they return before 2am,” the Business Standard reported AI Express’ Chief Operating Officer, S Chandrakumar, as saying.
