Starwood Hotels & Resorts has celebrated the grand opening of the St Regis Chengdu.
Launching exactly 110 years after the first ever St Regis hotel opened in New York, the new Chinese property becomes the luxury brand’s 33rd global property.
“The St Regis Chengdu marks a significant milestone for the brand with plans to double the St Regis portfolio in Greater China in the next five years,” said Paul James, global brand leader of St Regis, the Luxury Collection and W Hotels. “As the world descends on Chengdu for both business and leisure, the St Regis is poised to become the social centre of this exhilarating city.”
Located in the centre of the Sichuan state capital, close to Tianfu Square, the new property offers 279 rooms and suites, all with butler service.
Guest will have the choice of six F&B outlets, including two Chinese restaurants, one of which offers private dining rooms on the 27th floor. There is also Chengdu’s only dedicated wine bar and an outdoor sky bar with views across the city.
Leisure facilities at the hotel include a spa with nine treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, plus a fitness centre and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. And for the corporate and events market, St Regis Chengdu approximately 1,100m² of function space including the Astor Ballroom.
Starwood now operates 10 St Regis hotels in the Asia Pacific region, but this regional portfolio is expected to more the double in the coming years, with plans for at least 11 more properties between 2015 and 2020.
