InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has continued the expansion of its Holiday Inn brand in South Korea, with the addition of a new hotel in the high-tech city of Songdo.
The brand new Holiday Inn Incheon Songdo is situated in the centre of this purpose-built ‘smart city’, which has been developed close to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport.
All 202 rooms are located from the 12th floor up and feature complimentary Wi-Fi and wall-mounted flatscreen TVs, while the hotel’s lobby is located on the 19th floor, overlooking the sea. Facilities at the hotel include three restaurants, a rooftop bar, five function rooms and a 320m² ballroom.
“Songdo has already been recognised as a city of the future and we’re proud that Holiday Inn… can be part of that future,” said Alan Watts, IHG’s chief operating officer for Asia, Middle East & Africa.
“It’s an especially momentous time with the hotel opening as one of the hotel hosts of the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. I’m confident that guests of the hotel will be treated to the friendliness, comfort and warm experience that the brand has been known for over the last 62 years.”
IHG now has eight hotels open across South Korea, including three Holiday Inns.
