Abu Dhabi focuses on tourism challenges

In a recent development, as part of activities of Economic Dialogue forum, organized and supervised by Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development, a seminar was held under the theme – ‘Tourism sector in Abu Dhabi: overcoming challenges and building synergies’.
The event was attended by a large number of participants. Opening the seminar, HE Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, director general of the council said that the gathering was in line with the council’s policy aimed at achieving greater understanding, cooperation and partnership between public and private sectors in the Abu Dhabi.
The discussions and opinions raised at the seminar would be taken into consideration in studies prepared by the council for submission to relevant authorities.
Public sector representatives that participated in the seminar included Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture, Urban Planning Council, Department of Economic Development, Department of Transport, Municipality of Abu Dhabi and Etihad Airways.
Extensive discussions and deliberations focused on reality of the tourism sector and challenges it faces. Speakers elaborated on role of relevant government agencies in development of this vital sector and ongoing plans and actions in addition to role and aspirations of the private sector. A number of participants submitted ideas and proposals for development of the tourist sector and enhancing synergy between the public and private sectors.
