Khmer Rouge prison in UNESCO bid

The Khmer Rouge’s notorious S-21 prison is bidding to be listed on UNESCO’s ‘Memory of the World’ programme, CNN has reported. The former school in Phnom Penh is now home to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum documenting the horrors of the ‘Killing Fields’ era, but the Cambodian government is reportedly working with UNESCO to get the site internationally recognised.
